newbie, what do i need to get started?

i've got a 1993 C2500 pickup that im going to be doing some mods to (4x4 conversion, lift, bigger tires, more gear) and with having to recalibrate the speedo, i figured i'd go ahead and toy with the tune a little, along with a few mods. i'm planning on an injector spacer, a Power Charger, and an AFPR initially on the stock engine. eventually i'll swap to the L31 Vortec longblock i've got in the garage, headers, an intake, and a ported TB, maybe remove the EGR. the truck is and will be equipped with a 4L60E and a 16168625 ECM.

what do i need to get started? looking for some stuff that's very user friendly, as i've never messed with this kind of stuff before.

It is not really difficult but the initial learning curve is pretty steep. You should read the "stickies" (all of them, even the ones for other ecm's) at the top of this forum about 5 times before doing anything else. You will find the info you need. Then go to Moates.net or other vendors and go shopping. The price is usually about what you'll spend on an aftermarket chip (depending)...

After you read the stikies do several searches to gain more information. Do yourself a favor and start keeping a notebook right away (tips and tricks).

It is best to start with your stock setup. Get that figured out first then the modified engine will be easier to tune.

Good luck.
