Can't Data Log using Tuner Pro RT...

I have a friend that has Tuner Pro RT and the OBD1 to USB hook up. He data logs his car, but we couldn't get it to work right with my car. It kept saying that it couldn't connect to my PCM. What are we doing wrong, because I am ordering a cable and have already got Tuner Pro RT, and I would like to start data logging. Any help is greatly appreciated.

What kind of car does he have? Remember you must have the right .ECU file loaded in TunerPro for it to recognize the computer in the car.

He has a 1993 Trans Am LT1, but the cable is the same because it is OBD1 also. We downloaded the file from the site, but still no luck.

DA3 is the definition I need for my car right? It datalogs on his car, just not on mine, that is what we are trying to figure out. Where do I get this DA3 definition, I am new to this.
