dumb noob problem :)

I have been trying to data log using winaldl I cant get it to connect to my car at all I have my Ecm # right I have tried all the com port setting and I cant get it to work anyone else have this problem. I have had the cable maybe 4 months I bought from a company it worked the first time I used it but now it wont

Any responses are much appreciated

More info needed. What laptop, what cable, USB or serial, what O/S? What ECM and mask ID?

Have you checked to see that you have the right COM port allocated through your Windows Control Panel, System, Hardware, Device Manager, Ports, and is the speed and parity the same as you have set in Winaldl?

Have you got an infrared or other port conflict?

These connectivity problems are a pain- hope you get it fixed soon.

im running a windows 98 omni book, with the dataloger hooked up through the usb if that helps any, i forget were i got the interface cable but it worked for my car back about 4 months ago

Some USB drivers instal the virtual com port from the USB socket you've plugged into first and only that socket.

You need to check that the speed setting and com port settings are the same in the Device Manager and Winaldl.

I had a similar problem once, turns out my comm 1 and 2 were mis labeled accidently discovered it some how
