Diacom OK - ALDL not after 870 - 730 Swap
Hi all,
I am struggling to find out whats going on here! I have a 85 Corvette that had a 870 ECM in it (MAF). I have just swapped in a 730 (MAP) and everything seems to be running fine, no errors etc...
My problem is that I cannot log data as I want (TTS DATAMASTER idealy). I can hook up Diacom no problem and that connects fine (does that use ALDL???) if I hook up TUNER PRO RT initially I get no connection with the Autoprom but going into the settings and selecting "MAX232" type connection I can get it to connect.
TTS datamaster just says ALDL ok but no PCM detected.
I have this working on an original 730 ECM car sat right next to mine so the software or hardware (PC side) isnt an issue.
both pins E and M on the car loom are connected to the serial data.
Any idea's????
Please help!

Must be on Max232 to work with std cables.
DM won't give you any indication that the cable works unless you have their hardware IIRC. Make sure you had the right version ($8D?) for this one.
Recheck the E & M actually connect to "A8" at the ECM and that you have a good ground connection at the ALDL connector "A" pin.
Ohm meter to ground should read very little resistance from there.
The diagnostic input for the ALDL connector must have pin "D" going to the ECM "E12" to select modes (not needed for just logging but something to confirm is correct anyway)
Since this is a swap, did you have to remove the a "Light Driver Module" to get the Engine light to work correctly? Only ask because mine worked in reverse and had to be removed to operate corectly.
Can you get code 12 to flash when jumping A & B on the ALDL connector?
That is another way to test if the diagnostics are connected up right.
