Classes/training/tutorial

First of all I have been reading for a while on tuning and there is ALOT of confusing info floating around.

Has anyone thought of doing a class or some sort of video tutorial? I would be willing to pay for some tuning lessons. I would like to tune but the learing curve is STEEP.

I purchased an ALDL cable to look at how the VE curves and what not are doing with a factory tune and a stage 2 tune.

The hardest part for me so far is just figuring out what chip to buy.
Mine has a code of BJYL 16200098. Can I use a 7747?

As far as DIY PROM tuning info goes, you have reached the holy grail here. Don't hold your breath for a class or video when all the info you could ever want or need is in the stickies here. It takes a considerable amount of time before it all starts to make sense. I'm talking months depending on your tuning experience in general. Some electronics knowledge is beneficial as well. Keep reading, the light bulb will eventually turn on.

As for BJYL and a '7747. It won't work. BJYL is from a 16197427 PCM which controls a 4L60E as well. A '7747 is the early TBI truck ECM. HTH

I agree but there is a company that runs a EFI tuning class called EFI101.com they are not cheap but had a good right up in one of the magazines, I think it was hot rod magazine.

You might want to check out the performance forum on fullsizechevy.com since it is more specific to your truck. This board leans more towards the advanced PROM tuner as far as the members discussions go although there is great info for the newby in the stickies. HTH

Innovate Motorsports, makers of the LM-1 wideband O2 sensor, have a full course of EFI tuning classes from basic to in-depth courses for the professional. The subject matter is general in that it is not ECM specific. I believe the original poster was looking for GM specific information or at least that was the impression I got.

Re: Classes/training/tutorial

Would it be better to go down the emulation (ostrich) road or get the burning stuff.

Start with the burning stuff. An emulator can get you in trouble in a hurry and should only be used once you have quite a bit of experience. JMHO
