Want to tune to run E85
Hi guys,
I plan on tuning a bin to run E85 or mostly E70 (more commonly found at the pump here in France).
and something came to my mind:
To burn properly, the stoich ratio for E85 has to be 9.725 and for E70 it has to be 10.6 . I got that information from a guy that works in a company that install an additionnal box to convert existing vehicule to run with E70/85
My question is: will my NBO2 sensor work accuratly? I don't think it will. Correct me if I'm wrong. I guess that these sensors run out of range with such Ratio right?
That leads to another question: How can I convert my set-up to work with a WB02? I guess that involves more than just a little wiring job right? I'm pretty sure I'll have to update my PROM (I have all the MOATES stuff for my car anyway including ostrich)
Has anybody done that job already?
in advance for all the info you gurus will give.
I'll be glad to share all what I'll do if someone wants to do the same.
I have a 90 iroc with 730 $8D

Any major mods with E-85 will likely be to the fuel system to tolerate E-85. You will also need larger injectors and a capable fuel pump to meet the demand.
In the prom, its mainly a matter of adjusting the constants, desired air fuel ratios, and startup parameters for E-85's needs. You can probably also run E-70 as well. The narrow band O2 will work fine. It doesnt care much about what AFR or fuel your running, only what stoich is.
----------
Also, a wideband would be nice, but youd have to, at teh very least, modify the closed loop PID algo in the ECM to properly use the signal from a wideband to command teh fueling. On top of this, you also have to deal with possible resolution issues if you wish to do a flex fuel type setup. If you just wish to install teh wideband for tuning, most units have an output for a narrow band simulator, so the wideband controller can replace your narrow band O2.
