TCC issues/discussion in $6E

I have searched and have also tried some trail and error, mostly error... RBob's TCC article helped but doesnt solve my problem. Figured its worth some discussion on here,

I am using TunerPro RT. $6E bin definition in an 86 305 TPI camaro with the 700R4 tranny. I'm trying to use the APYS bin because my car runs pretty good with it, but it was from a manual car, and everything in the bin related to the TCC was set to "0". I decided to steal all the TCC information from the ARAP bin, seeing that its a popular automatic bin. Also, I unchecked the manual transmission flag. The TCC would constantly lock and unlock at cruising and light acceleration. Heavy accel to WOT it was fine. So,

I noticed that in the TCC tables, that at any MPH you specify the %TPS needed to unlock a locked TCC, and also the %TPS needed to keep an unlocked TCC unlocked. These were flip flopped for me from the stock ARAP bin! For example (cannot remember actual numbers but these are close), at 50 MPH I will need 45%TPS to unlock the locked TCC, and then 65%TPS to prevent the TCC from locking again. Now this is definitly backwards right? Otherwise, anywhere between the 45 and 65% the TCC will jump back and forth.

So I switched the values between the tables and it is better! But it still is not operating normally. My attempts to tweak the table have made it worse, so Im wondering if someone that has been there done that can show me some tables or suggest a way to straighten this out. I still locks and unlocks too often..

Didnt mean for the post to get so long, but if anyone would like to discuss it I'd really appreciate it.

Try AUJN for 3.23 or APYN (2.77) tables
They are both for a 350 though.

Re: TCC issues/discussion in $6E

Thanks, Ill check those out when Im home tonight. Now, if those bins have TCC settings that work good for me, and if I stick with the current bin that the engine runs good on while copying all the TCC stuff from those bins, will the TCC work exactly like in those bins or is there more that may effect it?

Heres a qustion I had not considered yet:

Is there a differnece between the TCCs in an 86 Camaro and in an 89 Camaro/Vette?

(since I went from $32 to $6E)

USE the automatic bins (and only a F-BODY bin), and copy all of your other modifications into it. There's probably several torque converter lockup bits and bytes that are not covered in your XDF.

Re: TCC issues/discussion in $6E

Yea your other reply to me helps this issue a lot. I took the ARAP and changed everything except the TCC stuff to the settings in APYS. The TCC was muuuch better, even thought the TCC setting i tried in the APYS were from the ARAP, if any of that makes sence. so Obviously there is something I did not have the control to change.

Now the ARAP is fom a Vette I think, so I may or may not have issues with it in the Camaro? Ill assume that the vette bin is overall more aggressive with TCC as it is with spark and such..

thanks again!

Hey RednGold, if ya dont mind me askin,

Do you know of a stock bin that is originally a 305 F-body Automatic using $6E?

All the $6E bins i have seen are either 350, or Manual tranny.

Re: TCC issues/discussion in $6E

Just tryin again to ask,

What bin is used in an '89 F-body 305 w/ auto trans? The $6E code.

They existed, so the bin must exist too, I just have not found the way of locating what bin is for what.

Any hel would be great, thanks.

Re: TCC issues/discussion in $6E

The early 89 Camaro FED BIN is ANYH, and IIRC was superseded by APYM.

RBob.

Re: TCC issues/discussion in $6E

Thanks for the reply! However I cant find either of those in the diy-efi or the moates directories. TGO search seems to be down. Google is taking me to posts on TGO that say yea APYM is the 89 305 auto bin that i want, but still nowhere to get it haha.

Where do ya go when diy-efi.org doesnt have it?

I like the AUJM bin. I have used it on 200 and 700 transmissions.
