disassembling a `727 ECM- anybody done already?
hi all
maybe you remember my thread about whacky contacts in my ECM (when changing chips, eg)
so, have anybody of you disassmebled such a ECM?
i took a closer look today, it seems, that there are some rivets, that have to be drilled out..?
i have a spare ECM liing around, so i think, i will do this experiment...
opinions are welcome!!
thank you

I think there are 8 screws that need to come out. Then you might have to fight with the end seal a little bit before it slides out of the case.

hi
yes, there are 8 screws, i pulled them, and tried to pry carefully the end seal open..
but, when you look inside the case, it seems, that the inner case, where the curcuit board is held, is riveted from outside..
anyways, i will give it another try, and see what happens..
i have the problem with my ECM, when i insert a new chip, i get SYS in the Display, come from a MEMCAL failure..then, i whiggle around a bit, and it is ok..
i swapped chip adapters, same thing
so, the culprit must be a loose pin in the ECM...
other opinions?
thank you
