Does anyone still use ECM852?

I got me an old P2 ThinkPad that I run in dos and datalog with ECM852. Because the logs are huge and make Excel cough blood, I've been messing around with writing a program to parse out the logs and dump out important data. Would anyone be interested in testing it and providing feedback / feature requests?

P.S. I promise I'll GPL it

How big are your logs? I've never had an issue opening the logs with Excel... (30-45min log files)

Mine are also about that long, 10 to 15 megs a piece. If you try to make a chart with like 3 series in Excel 2007, it just takes a nose dive. Also Excel does not give you tables that look like TunerPro, not without a lot of scripting. My program dumps out things like http://my.fit.edu/~dpetruss/tuning/output.html and takes like ~1 second.

That looks real nice!

There was also some 'panalyze' software kicking around that worked pretty good. I can't seem to find a live link anymore though.

Test out the 'P' function in ECM852/853 and see how that does for you. That could give some ideas also.

I'd also started with a 'VEPHD' program way back, that could also help. It's open source QuickBasic. If you want a copy, let me know.

Re: Does anyone still use ECM852?

Yea I've played with the P thing, it's pretty sweet. If you have the VEPHD source laying around, I'd love to dabble in some QB code. It's been a while since I did that

The only other program that I've I have looked at so far is VeMaster, since it's the only one you can still find around here. I like the premise, but my idea is more to dump the data out in easily readable format rather than change the bin. I like to see what is going on and change it myself.

Go for it. If you can't upload, send me an email attachment.

Here is the VEPHD stuff:

It should all be there. The config file is fully user configurable and it makes it easier to push the resultant info into an Excel sheet without chewing up huge resources.

Re: Does anyone still use ECM852?

Well if anyone cares, the code for my program is going to be at http://www.datalogs.net/code/logparser/ from now on. The plan is to make a site to upload and keep track of data logs, but I don't know if that is going to actually happen or not. Regardless, the latest version of the code will always be at that URL. It's a public SVN repository, but you can look at the code using just the browser.
