That one is the same as the millions of other 727's out there.

Don't see where it says anything "special" about it.

The only thing "special" about it is that it looks to contain a 2.8/3.1 V6 MEMCAL.
Which isn't much use if you want limp-home in a V8!

Re: 1227727 ECM help

hi

since my car is heavily modded, it wont run on limp-home-mode...

ok, another think...when i modify the MEMCAL with a ZIF socket, and everything function properly, will the V6 limp-home network have an influence? or will this become only active, when theres a chip failure? e.g. chip not correct, sth..

if this works, this would be a nice alternative to the known piggyback adapters...

would be interesting....

thank you

You should get a complete MEMCAL for a V8.
The MEMCAL contains the following:
o EPROM for SW and calibration (27C128 or 27C256 depending on code you run as "base" - eg: stock configuration, no emulation or expander/multical memory IC)
o Resistor NETRES ICs (2) that run spark and fueling if the EPROM fails
o Knock Thickfilm assembly for EST control with knock sensor

A V6 MEMCAL ha these items as well, BUT, they are NOT configured for a V8.
In fact, the MEMCALs for a 5.0L TPI are different than a 5.7L due to the Knock Thickfilm assembly (frequency tuning of the knock sensor)

So my recommendation is to go to GMPARTSDIRECT and buy a correct base V8 MEMCAL for your application, and then remove the EPROM and socket it for the emulator or for replaceable EPROMs.

BTW....If its NOT a SBC, then pick your V8 MEMCAL based on closest bore size of your engine.....
