I need to swap 350 memcal for 305 SD

I need to swap 350 memcal for 305 SD

I've ended up with a few SD AUJP memcals and I need to swap one of these for a SD 305 memcal. I was tuning a 305 SD and found that someone had put a new 350 memcal in and it won't have limp mode.
Can anyone help me?

Ron I believe that the only real difference is the knock sensors. If you are running anything over a 305 you should use the 350 memcal and make sure your knock sensor is for a 350.

The main reason I want the 305 memcal is so he will have the limp mode. A fellow streetrodder bought a package deal off ebay and everything's fine except the memcal has AUJP on it, and I understand the limp mode for a 350 memcal will not work on a 305.

Go ahead and use it. No noticeable difference that I have seen. I've been using various SD memcals over the last 5 years and I have no idea if they came from a 305 or a 350, but they all work 100% in 350 and larger engines.

I agree with Kevin, the difference will not be noticeable because your car will not run well in "Limp Mode" anyway...(hence the name).

But also remember, Limp Mode is when you have a SERIOUS problem (such as an ECM failure). Typically, when certain sensors fail, you go into "Safe Mode" when the ECM will still use the paramaters & programming in the eprom (and can be modified or changed). This is what many people think is "Limp Mode".

In the interim, just overwrite the eprom with the correct bin for an SD 305. But, the good news, there are FAR more people that swap 305s to 350s, so you should have no problem finding someone willing to trade their SD 305 Memcal for your SD 350 Memcal.

I would suggest you place an ad in our Classified Section as most guys looking for such a trade will go there. The guys here, who are into burning their own eproms probably have already re-programmed their own Memcal and know the difference between Limp Mode & Safe Mode.

I've got a Jet 305 SD memcal from my original 305 TPI dual cat WC T5 set up in my 91 'Bird. I can swap ya if you decide you need it.

Can anyone explain what the real difference is in the 305 and 350 memcal?
And if you use a 327, which one works best for it?
And, how would a normal guy know how to tell the difference in them to be sure he had the correct memcal?
