749 help

I have the 749 and $58 setup in my car. The car is going into some sort of fuel cutoff mode around 7-8lbs of boost @ 4500rpm. And it also runs kind of lean between 2000-3500 rpm with a slight throttle input.(20-30% and not in boost) I mean the car is driveable but i just cant go WOT for very long before it enters that fuel cutoff mode. Any ideas what i can adjust to help these two problems. The SES light is not on either. I am using tunercat. Thanks

-Tim

Try using promgrammer instead of Tunercat to edit the rpm limit. TC for some reason screws up when switched to 8 cyl on the rev limit. That should fix your problem.

The stock cal is kinda odd, in that it uses a ton of AE, and when that runs out, the PE is often too lean.

It can take some effort to balance the two out. I'm using only about 1/3 of the AE the original cal had, and then a richer PE AFR.

I downloaded the promgrammer and when i used a bin that i modified with that program the engine light flickers dimly and it runs bad. I am not sure if i am doing something wrong or what.

I don't think Promgrammer updates the checksum when you save. You have to go to tools -> checksum calculator and put it in manually. The car is running in limp home mode if the checksum fails, unless you change the mask to AA.

Re: 749 help

Uggggh, Ive been chasing this problem. Man I love thirdgen.org search! I think this fuel cutoff should be mentioned in the 749 conversions. I dont know why the default setting is so low??? My car is just dropping dead at 4500-5000 rpm. I even swapped out a new MSD 6AL I put in while installing this new engine/ECU combo thinking it might be the problem(luckily I had an old 6A to test with.)
