$42 in a '746 ?
Can I load a $42 (L05) image into a '746 ecm ? I have a spare '746 on the shelf, and don't want to have to buy a '747 if I don't have to.

The ROM and the calibration have to match, unfortunately the $42 code is used exclusively in the 7747. Try ANLU, that is a police package L05 with the L98 cam and 68# injectors.

Ah, sounds familiar.......
In a word no. But.......
( well, yes, if you take ALL of the code, including the ROM chip part )
The hardware is the same, so you'll be better off not to, really.
No reason you can't copy the relevent portions from one to the other.
Tuner Pro has an "export as text" function, so you can export all of the 7747 data into a text file, and copy it into an $61 bin manually.
After spending a year or two on the 7747, that's exactly what I did ! Mostly the spark and fuel tables, and a few odds and ends, like base pulse constant, and such, so the 8746 starts where the 7747 left off, and am I ever glad I did !
The 8746 has some nice features lacking in the 7747, like the IAT, and lean cruise. Much nicer ECM over all, in my opinion. It's much more stable than the 7747 over-all, gets better mileage, and I'm generally happier with the 8746.
It seems there are a very few ditties in the 7747 that are not in the 8746, like the ability to set the IAC during DFCO, but mostly irrelevant stuff.
Unless you've already put time into a 7747, why would you want to ?

I don't understand why either one of you would want to mess around with ANY of the 160 Baud TBI ECMs, when for about $50.00 you can upgrade to the TBI PCM used with the Electronic transmission trucks. It has an 8192 baud datastream and a much improved code. Better driveability, more HP, increased mileage, and more tuneability to name a few.
BUT, if what you say is true ( only because I haven't yet investigated ) you may have just pushed me toward a 4L80 or 6L90 trans in addition.

Re: $42 in a '746 ?
Well the reason was because I wanted to load a truck bin on the ecm I already owned, for a truck conversion.
This isn't a performance application at all, if it was I wouldn't look at either ECM - i'd be using a '730 for multiport
Thanks guys, I'll just grab another '747 out of the junkyard.
