Help: Laptop won't install ALDL cable software
Help: Laptop won't install ALDL cable software
I have a Toshiba Satellite 4080XCDT running Windows 98SE. I have an OBD Diagnostics Inc. ALDL-USB cable and their CD with the drivers/software. I cannot get the computer to download the software from the CD. The hang up seems to be with the "device type". I have tried it as a "USB controller", "Other devices", and several other options which looked halfway plausible, but Windows will not accept the driver.
I have tried calling OBD Diagnostics, but nobody answers the phone. They just have an answering machine. I left messages, but I don't know when I will hear back.
I have tried searching these forums, but I can't find an answer.
Anybody been here before? Have any advice?
Thanks in advance.

Try downloading driver for FT232R from FTDI website. Read their installation guides.
