'730 Pestering issues

Well, just some issues that I would like to fix or calm down if I could:
1) Upon startup doesn't matter if its cold or hot, the rpms will jump to 1600-1800 and then settle back after to the commanded rpm after a few seconds.....is there anyway to reduce this to like 1200-1400 or so?

2) Another issue is a runaway idle sometimes, I read the thread on RPM limiter but I looked at the HEX and its commanding 750 rpms which is what my commanded idle setting is on my table. So, is there a way to limit this to about 800 or so rpms.....when I do have a runaway idle, in drive the rpms is 950 and in park is between 1200-1400.

I'm sure I'll have more that I can't think of right now but if I could just settle those two down a little, I think it would help the rest of the tune a lot...esp. #2 and #1 is just something that bothers me a little bit.

Oh.....Thanks in Advance!

I think #1 is designed that way to make sure the alternator reaches its minimum RPM to start charging. When you turn off the engine, the IAC parks itself fully open, so the engine has maximum air available to start. If you really want to change it, set the IAC Park Position to something lower, like 120 instead of 160.

On #2, what is your IAC setting when the car is in park, and in drive? Have you cleaned the IAC passage lately?

Sorry...been moving into a new home this weekend.

#1-the old 383 was 1600 startup with a 600 rpm idle...new 383 has a 750 rpm idle and has a 1800 startup so....I just want to reduce it down a little to where it used to. I will try going to 160 to ~141 and see what happens. Don't want to go crazy with it.

#2-IAC from P/N is set to 50 and drive. IAC was cleaned about a month ago...worked fine for 2 weeks and went crazy. I have a new IAC in route from GM to see if that's the problem.

To be honest, I don't have a clue. I ordered a chip from LSRacingchips.com and just read the chip and installed it on the Ostrich. Reason is I was doing the HSR from TBI conversion in my truck and needed a turn-key operation just to make sure everything was working correctly. I believe it to be AUJP though.

Would anybody want to have a look at the bin. file and see if anything is out of place?

Re: '730 Pestering issues

Ok....rpms are now about 1500 on startup....perfect.....not as loud on startup so don't get as many looks anymore....woohooo.

Now, on to #2...the runaway idle....I see something in the Constants called IAC Idle Follower max steps in Drive......this was set to 231 in my chip but I see stock is 40....should I lower this back to around 40 so that the runaway idle in drive is reduced?

Also, what's the best way to add some tip in fuel for AE and just general AE. I've read the Guide and made some adjustments...made a huge difference after I adjusted like 5 tables...but what tables should I focus on more?

Thanks for the help so far!!!
