Trying to upgrade to 6E from 32B. Keep getting code 41

So here is the story and maybe somebody can find the flaw in my process

My car started as a 1985 Trans Am convertable 3.42 gears with a 305.

The engine was changed to a 350 and the injectors were upgraded to 24lb/hr. I did a basic rebuild on the 350. Just some cheap heads from the Jegs catalog and I reused the came that was in the car that was to big for a 305. No idea what the stats are.

I couldn't get the car to idle worth a crap with the 85 computer. And tuning the computer was frustrating to say the least.

I bought a ECM and a prom from a 88 Formula 350. Bin AKXY and 32b Mask

So i did the 165 ECM upgrade with the info on this site. Worked great. With just the stock chip from the boneyard I have near perfect driveability. My BLMS suck because of my injector constants being wrong.

So I bought a G1 adapter from craig and a blank 512byte flash chip.

I created my new 6E bin and copied it 4 times so it would fill up the whole chip because i didn't know where the car would start to read the chip. I flashed it to the chip and put it in the adapter and installed it in the car. When I started the car I get a Code 41, Incorrect memcal.

So Then a Tried turning off the checksum. I made 4 more copies of the bin to write to the chip.

I used the flash and burn program that came with the Autoprom

First I erased the chip.

Then I blank checked it and it confirmed it to be blank

Then I wrote my new program

Then verifiyed it with the program in the buffer and all was OK.

But I put it back in the car and it dosen't work.

I reseated the adapter and chip just to make sure.

I tried flipping the flash chip around in the ZIF socket in case I had it backwards.

I have used the adapter and created my own chips for my 1989 Formula 350 with relativly little drama.

So my only guess is I need to use a memcal from a 1989 model Firebird to piggyback on my G1 adapter?

Any ideas?

The same MEMCAL that you had been using should work with the G1. Make sure that it is plugged into the side of the adaptor in the correct orientation.
