Quick(?) MAF table calc question

so Ive seen 2 different calculations as to how the MAF tables work, they are:

Raw value * Scalar / 255 = grams/sec

and

Raw value * Scalar / 256 = grams/sec

Now tunerpro's $6E xdf is dividing by 256 and i assume it is 256, but in hex 255 = FF and 256 = 100... so wouldnt it be beneficial to the ECM to use 2 hex digits rather than 3? therefore im questioning the division by 256.

bottom line my question is, which is it, 255 or 256?

its a small difference but it is a difference, but ill bet someone can fill me in rather easily.

thanks

Re: Quick(?) MAF table calc question

I would think its because theres 256 binary values available
from 00-FF ie 256 steps
AFAIK,

Re: Quick(?) MAF table calc question

Yes i read that thread a while ago, and i think another read through and ill be able to understand most if not all of it. that thread is saying its divided by 256, same as tunerpro's xdf. my confusion is due to a tuning guide that said 255 and a thread by grumpy that said 255. once i understand the deeper working i should be able to jsut go in the code and answer my own questions..

thanks
