Hot engine in open loop loads up

I think I finally have most of my starting and open loop problems fixed with one exception. When the engine is cold it will start up and run great, warm up, and go into closed loop operation. The problem comes when I stop for a few minutes.

Upon restart the engine will run for a few minutes, then load up and surge. Under light cruising (30 mph) my datalog shows open loop operation and the INT value dropping suddenly to 76 as the engine dies, then it'll return to 128, then dive to 76. This will go on for 30 seconds to a minute. Once it kicks back into closed loop operation everything is great. The INT value dropping suddenly would suggest the engine is running very rich, correct? On the other hand, sometimes I'll hear a *pop* in the intake which would suggest a lean mixture.

Any ideas? Where should I start? Maybe reduce the values in the upper end of the "Open Loop AFR Ratio % Change VS Coolant Temp".

Oh yeah, it's a MAF $6E running ARAP.

Thanks for the help,

-Howdy

Re: Hot engine in open loop loads up

The INT shouldn't move until in closed loop. If the ECM is reporting open loop and the INT is moving, then something is wrong with either the ECM or the BIN.
