Re: 82 prom

There is some information here, mostly the ZZ4 q-jet calibration. IIRC there is a section in the tuning guide sticky with links. Most likely will need to put an adaptor together to use a more modern EPROM or flash device.

It is common to switch out the original crossfire ECM to a later model TBI ECM. I recomeend using the TBI PCM from a 1993-1995 TBI Chevy Truck.

Re: 82 prom

You can also switch the '6025 or '6026 ECM used in the '83 CFI Z28 & T/A and '84 CFI Vette. But you would have to use the '83/'84 chip.I don't know if the 200C in your '82 will affect using the different ECM.Another route is to switch to the '7747 ECM(as Fast355 suggested) but you have to use an adaptor harness.Check out the Crossfire Injection Forum http://www.crossfire.homeip.net/

I would jump right over the top of the 7747 and move to the 7427 PCM. Your engine will run much better with the later PCM. The later PCM also has a 8192 baud rate data stream and can operate an electronic shift transmission if you want.

Re: 82 prom

Now I've learned something different thank you Fast355.Would the '7427 be found in the '93-'95 TBI trucks as you suggested first? That would definitly improve processing speed over the '6025 that is in my '83 Z28 now(and definitly over the '82 CFI ECM).I take it get the computor and part of the harness from the donor vehicle would be best.Would the stock PROM work or would a special one be needed.
