now have wideband what is ideal????

Got the wide band in place and car drives good around town but is wicked lean at wot and looking for what are the ideal afrs for wot and driving. 12.5 for wot and 14.0 for driving is what I have been told. I know that wot will be what the car likes wot make most power as I have seen it with many cars making most at 12.5 and some do better rich for some reason at 11.5 like my buddies carbed mustang. I know efi and carb also seem to like different afrs too. Never have tuned by afr before just blm and seat of the pants and seat of the pants got me know where last weekend at the track because it is showing 17.1 on the afr and plugs didnt look that lean. Also I know the formula for changing the ve tables when going off the blm being above or below 128 multiply the divide by the table. Is there a formula for the afrs in reference to the table to do the same thing. To get it at 128 128 .

Re: now have wideband what is ideal????

You mention pump gas, if this is less then 10% ethanol, then 12.5 is a safe AFR. For the engine at least. If there are cat's on the car then you need to plunge to 11.0 area in the midrange RPM to put them out.

no cats on the car. How about driving around for best gas mileage with no lean miss?

This varies according to load and engine. Generally in the 16.0 to 16.6 AFR range. Also need to add SA timing. I have a few posts on lean cruise. If they can be found it would help fill in this info.

You need to test for max MPH over a set distance. A start at 10 MPH may be best so that traction at launch is reduced.
