Going into open loop during light throttle cruise.

I've noticed when monitoring that the car is going into open loop mode during light throttle cruise and when idling for a few minutes. Now I have deduced that it's because I have headers and they are letting the O2 sensor cool down to much. So I probably need to install a heated O2 sensor.

Would it be better to weld in an O2 bung after the "Y"? It seems like that would give me an average for all cylinders. Would there be any drawback to this location?

Also any suggestions about what O2 sensor and hook up will be greatly appreciated.

Re: Going into open loop during light throttle cruise.

The only issue I have run into with the O2 down under the car is rain. This will cool off the sensor and cause false readings. During heavy rains & local flooding the SES would sometimes light for O2 malfunctions.

Do you think that the under car position is better/more accurate?

Would some kind of splash shield help with the water situation?

I'd say no to both questions.

The only O2 I like down under is a WB. But I don't drive a vehicle in bad weather while tuning with the WB.
