Finally! EBL Flash is on it's way! Which wideband?

Finally after YEARS of waiting I'm getting into tuning. I've already purchased an EBL Flash this morning, I should have it by next wednesday. I also want to get a wideband o2 to complete my little tuning package. I've been thinking about the Zeitronix ZT-2 or the Innovate LM-1 but how can I hook it up to the EBL? Can I just replace the NB02 with the wideband or do I have to put in another 02 bung and wire it in that way? I have ceramic coated 2055's and the same with the Y-pipe and I'd hate to have to grind away the coating to do this. what can I do?

I want to see the answer to this, because I wanna get an EBL this summer too. I am interested to see how hard you think it is to learn tuning on the EBL.

Anyway, I think I read on the site that it can use the info from the WB02 sensor and interpolate it so that the car thinks its seeing measurements from a NB02. Well, probably more accurate. Then, you *should* be able to use a laptop to view the wideband readings thru the EBL software.

The EBL instructions tell you how to hook up a wideband and several other sensors of your choosing. I have the ZT-2 and have been very pleased with it. Too many bad stories of innovate products failing for me. You should install another bung for the wide band.

I installed the wideband in the Y-pipe on the driver side just before the pipe goes under the oil pan. Install it in the top of the pipe so the WB is pointing up towards the sky so water doesn't drown it.

You can buy an 02 adapter to attach to rear of collector between collector and your ext pipe. Sold by manufacturer of header. I chose to weld in bung directly behind collector in ext pipe. I later moved the WB02 bung further back about 16 inches to help with sensor life(Bosch). I would reccomend bung be 12-16 inches behind collector. Innovate also sells an LC-1 at lower cost. See their site.

Re: Finally! EBL Flash is on it's way! Which wideband?

Zeitronix ZT-2 is what I was told is the most reliable, so I will be going with that one. http://www.zeitronix.com/order/order.htm is a link for it. I just got the EBL flash installed myself. It's really fun for me to tune it, even if I have no idea what I'm doing. The support with it is awesome from dynamicefi! I've asked a bunch of questions and always get an answer within a day. I tried reading all the stickies here on thirdgen but confused myself, so I'm taking it slow so I don't screw anything up. I've installed a heated O2 sensor since my car (82 Crossfire Corvette, I know, I know this is 3rdGen.org) is modified and wasn't working to good. I'll be installing an IAT sensor here soon, as soon as I get a pigtail for the sensor and the pin for my EBL connector. I've been told that it improves the idle and driveability a little. WBO2 is a next, think I'll order it tonight. Good luck! Of course there's no 'Tuning EBL for Dummies' yet!

Re: Finally! EBL Flash is on it's way! Which wideband?

I looked at both the LC-1 and ZT-2 WB's, and one thing that stuck out is the higher sampling rate of the ZT-2, this is from memory, but I think the ZT-2 takes 70 samples per second versus 12 per sec for the LC-1. The higher sampling rate should make AE tuning easier, so I'll be going with the ZT-2.

It does cost more thou, so if $ is tight the LC-1 appears to be a good unit, most users seem happy with them.

Behind the collector of the Y-pipe? going into the intermediate pipe? if that's so I wouldn't have a problem drilling a hole and putting a bung back there. I thought the o2 had to be closer to the engine for heat and accuracy?

Re: Finally! EBL Flash is on it's way! Which wideband?

The WB 02 sensor can be even in the end of tail pipe. Innovate sells an adapter to securely attach it there. Not sure if the reads would be as accurrate. The adapter the mauufacturer sells attaches to the end of collector header. Sanwiched between collector flange and ext pipe flange. I simply welded a bung a couple inches back in ext pipe as it was a new installation of complete dual ext. I would say anywhere behind header collector might be Ok. Due to 02 sensor failures I later moved the bung further back in pipe about 16 inches. That allowed a better enternece into interior of car as a bonus. I think that was best for me anyway. My install is permanent.

hi folks,
sorry to kinda resurrect that thread again.. but it hasn't been too long long yet anyway

robertfrank, did you already get the WB? i also ordered a EBL Flash and still need to decide about the wideband. which one did you get and also, did you already start messing with it?

can i install the ZT-2 in the stock O2 location? dont wanna drill my new coated 2055s
also, is the ZT-2 using a Bosch LSU 4.2?

thank you

Re: Finally! EBL Flash is on it's way! Which wideband?

yah, the ZT-2 is a bosch.
I put mine about 2 feet aft of the collector on my long tubes. I also run a AFS-74 ACDelco 3 wire NB O2 in conjunction with the ZT-2. EBL FLash + ZT-2 is a great combo, but having the NB O2 is a must. Tune the narrow band to the wide band, then rock and roll.

Re: Finally! EBL Flash is on it's way! Which wideband?

heya,
so the WB is no substitute right? i thought i pretty sure read somewhere i could just use the WB instead of the NB, any opinions on this? i recently scored a ZT2 with a pda pocketlogger on ebay, and my ebl will arrive in about a week
what do you mean by tune the narrowband to the wideband..?

Re: Finally! EBL Flash is on it's way! Which wideband?

I thought the ZT2 had a Narrow Band Emulation Mode. To my understanding it converts the 5v Wd signal to the 1v NB. So In theory you could use just a WB but you probally want to do both till you Get the conversion map the way you want it.

Bob At dynamic recommended the ZT2 over the LC1 to me.
