Looking to start tuning....newbe

Guys, I am looking to start tuning proms but I need a little help getting started. I have searched and there is a lot of info, it's almost overwhelming. I have an 89 Formula with a 5.7 TPI that is mostly stock now, but I am planning on upgrading to vortec heads and a vortec TPI intake. So is this what I need?

Chip: eprom or eeprom? I am thinking of using an eeprom with a low profile ZIF

Programer: Flash-n-Burn from Moates?

Software: TunerPro RT?

I have an ALDL interface and I have been using WinALDL. Like I said, I have searched and researched but there is so much info and so many choices as to equipment and software. I know the easiest way to learn is to just jump in and get started, which is what I am trying to do. Thanks in advance!

Re: Looking to start tuning....newbe

I created a post for $6E related tuning, some with relation to ARAP related issues and some general issues.

https://www.thirdgen.org/forums/diy-...6e-tuning.html

Tunerpro is the program that I use, and its a really powerful program.

I bought a Flash n Burn from Moates and have been using over and over to burn chips for both my Camaros.

I have the G1 adapter and a G3 in my other car, both with ZIF sockets because you will have to burn multiple chips.

I use the 512' chips since they are cheap and they can be reprogrammed. Don't know too much about other burners and setups, but Moates's stuff is pretty cake to use.
