I think I've rechecked everything but my still car won't start with my burnt chips. There has to be something I'm overlooking.
This is what I'm using.
Tunerpro rt
Moates burn 1/memcal adaptor/zif
27SF512 chip
165 maf system (89 IROC 5.7 HSR)
Here are the symptoms:
Car runs with stock chip/memcal.
Car runs with aftermarket chip/memcal
Tunerpro recognizes the flash and burn device indicated at the bottom left of the "hardware connected" window.
I took the arap bin from tunerpro and loaded to the buffer. Chip is inserted in the burn 1 correctly. Blank check the chip-ok. erase the chip-ok. Verify the off sets (16k on 512 chip)-ok. Program chip and verify chip w/buffer-ok. Loaded chip in moates memcal adaptor with "working memcal" and installed in car-no start. reinstall working memcal in computer and it starts.
What am I overlooking??? I'm sure it's gotta be something simple. Any ideas??
Also could just plugging the 512 chip in the computer without disconnecting the battery/power be causing a problem with these chips that doesn't bother the stock one?
PROBLEM SOLVED!!!
This is a nubie problem for sure. I was installing the chip in backwards! Seems that when you place the chip in the burner, the notch on the chip goes tward the zif handle BUT when you place the chip in the memcal zif the notch on the chip goes AWAY from the handle. Drove me crazy but something another newcomer may want to take note of.

You need to have a memcal on the adapter with the 512 chip too.
The adapter bypasses the chip on the memcal and uses the one on the adapter.
check for bent pin ar bad connection somewhere possibly.

I have the moates adaptor and have tried my stock and aftermarket memcals. Don't see any bent pins and I've retraced all my hookup/chip orentation steps and all is in order. I am having not problems reading and programming chips. They just don't work! Pop in the stock on and it starts right up. Puzzled but thanks for the input.
