Open Loop High Idle

Okay, just got off idle lean pop and bog cured working
with AE items.
Also have CL idle set the way I want it-925 and steady.
Have it ramped as to temp setting Idle vs. Coolant temp.
Question,
How do I get the OL idle up so I don't have to play with it
until it goes CL.

Think that came across rite

Thanks

Re: Open Loop High Idle

Check out the, Idle rpm vs coolant temp (F), table this is where you will change the open loop idle speed.

I am thinking your using $32 chip. (location 637-647)

temp rpm
304 550.00
284 550.00
262 550.00
241 550.00
219 550.00
198 550.00
176 550.00
154 600.00
132 600.00
111 750.00
90 900.00
68 950.00
46 1050.00
24 1050.00
3 1050.00
-18 1050.00
-40 1050.00

Also the spark advance will effect the idle speed, more is more speed

Re: Open Loop High Idle

Thanks for reply,

Am using 6E and Expanded 6E as more options than
32B.
Ramped idle rpm vs coolant temp, and at between 150 up to 190 degrees when goes CL works perfectly. CL idle settles down to 925rpm just where i want it.
Have fan control set rite, and temp stays at 180 all the
time.

Have it ramped from 1100rpm when cold and OL, down to
925 in CL. Works in CL but will not work in OL before
warming up. Have to bring rpm up with throttle until
warm.

Tried a few IAC startup and IAC coolant changes and will
check out those changes today.
Also ramped up idle spark a little.
Probably should only do one change at a time.

Input appreciated.

Re: Open Loop High Idle

Will do!

Checking thru the 2 bins included with TPRT, ARAP-Vette
and APYP?, found timing changes as to coolant temps at
start up idle.

(Start up spark advance vs. Coolant Temp)
ARAP had none, but APYP had a spike between 32 and 150
degrees. Copied that
Thinking maybe the ARAP bin uses IAC settings or something else to control high cold idle.
Keeping notes.

Re: Open Loop High Idle

I would try 1500 rpm at the colder temps. What are your IAC counts at start up cold $6E "160"?

I had to open up the min air stop on the TB to get my IAC counts down at hot idle "< 10". Now it actually idles too high when cold.

Check the "Warm IAC Park Steps vs Coolant" table -40 125, 3 100, 46 75, nothing warm about these temps ($6E 588-590).

Steps vs coolant temp
5 ; 306
5 ; 262
5 ; 219
10 ; 176
25 ; 133
50 ; 90
75 ; 46
100 ; 3
125 ; -40

Re: Open Loop High Idle

As to IAC counts, for the past few weeks have been fighting a Data logging problem with my Auto Prom and
cable so unable to get info as to changes other than hearing and seat of the pants.

Can only connect at 160 and then only few garbled samples.

Had been working great with 6E ads at 8192.
Always something.
Going to reformat OS and start over on that one.
Going to bare bones the OS as laptop only used for Data Logging.
If that does'nt work, thinking original 165 ECM could be flaky.
But; can connect at 160???

Re: Open Loop High Idle

On the reload of OS and drivers still no luck on the data logging except at 160 and then all garbage
Even hard to get cable to connect at that.

The low idle timing changes I made to bring up cold idle
didn't do so good. Brought rpm down to around 500 until
around 150 degrees. Then goes up to 925 where I want it.

Going to burn 3 or 4 idle timing changes on chips and take it out tomorrow and see if can nail it down.

Thinking about hooking up a power switch so don't have to keep disconnecting battery with chip changes.
Fuse box has no ECM fuse to pull to reset.
Data log cable problem not helping
Let you know
