datamaster loses PCM connection

datamaster loses PCM connection
Been datalogging for a while now on my 89 5.7 TPI. Datamaster will work for a while then "lose sync with PCM" When I test connection it says adaptor ok, no pcm.
I try restarting engine, rebooting computer to no avail. Last time I was able to get it to work by unplugging and plugging back in the ECU. (did nothing else)
Wondering if this is typical or if I could have an ECU issue (it is a reman unit bought last year)

This is normal. I got the same problem, sometimes I can logg for 40minutes and sometimes only 1 minute, has to shutdown the car. close datamaster, remove ALDL cable from the connector and plug the ALDL cable back, start datamaster again and start engine, and then it works. maybe for long and maybe for a short time of period... its enoying, Right now im building a new ALDL cable will try to but in an switch to the 10k resistor and when I got stream I will shut the 10k resistor off.. maybe that will make it work better...
