My laptop has 2 USB ports one set to 6 other set to 7. In EBL I used to use top USB port which is set to 6 and I set EBL to CP6. Now I see EBL shows com 6 "locked"? So now I can only use the other USB port set to7 - EBL set 7.
How to unlock EBL CP 6?

 

With the WUD version 2.1g the Com Port will be either 'Open' or 'Closed.' This is shown on the main displays in the upper left corner under 'Port: COMx", the x being the selected port.

Any message that states 'locked' is not from the WUD.

With WUD versions prior to 2.1g when the selected port can't be opened, a popup with the message "Can not open COM Port" with the title of "Port Selection Error" is given.

As I stated earlier I am having logging sessions suddenly stop. I believe it is a "connection" issue at the USB port. either the male USB on adapter or the port on lappy is an issue. Depending how I route the cable around laptop will help the problem.

This happenned when I was trying to set up a VELearn not during a logging session. Seems made several changes in .bin selection that it did not like.

Is there a setting that will unlock a com port on lappy? USB Root Hub showed enabled?

 

Some USB drivers have a utility that can be used to set up the port. You may be able to use it to assign which port gets used. Usually you can plug into either physical port and the driver will see the cable.

There may be some dirt in either or both the cable and laptop connectors. It doesn't take much to prevent contact.

Don't mean to resurrect an old post "but" one more question concerning same topic. I am using the EBL also. With a radio shack usb to serial adapter. During use I have to continually reassign com port 9 in WUD to continue live updating (data logging & VE learn). Am I doing something wrong or is the radio shack adapter to blame. PS all cables are new and clean. Thanks for any help offered.
