Getting started data logging

Hey guys,
I am at a point where I think i am loosing spark or fuel when I am trying to go WOT. I am at the point in the tune where I can't go any farther without datalogging. I have a couple questions. I bought my flash and burn and stuff about 4 yrs ago and am not sure if what I have is an actual conection for datalogging. i will attach some pics.

I am using tunerpro rt. If I have the correct stuff could someone please advise me on how to get started data logging.

I hooked up the ecm obd1 connector to the car and the other end to the laptop. what do I have to have everything set at inside of tunerpro. I am not able to get anything that looks like it is recording data. what should i choose in setup as far as (ALDL Datastream definitions)???
Why do I not see a record button???
why does at the bottom of tuner pro rt say (hardware not detected)????

Also what is the little switch that is on the end of the black square? If it is set one way something on the motor makes noise when the obd1 connector is connected???

"why does at the bottom of tuner pro rt say (hardware not detected)????"

USB or serial ALDL cable?
You have to set the Comms port in Tunerpro to the one the laptop is using for the cable.
In TunerPro ,Go tools , preferences .
There is a box there to set the Comms port being used.
First you need to go into Windows control panel ,
click on "system" ,
then "device manager "
and scroll down to "ports "to see what Comms port number is allocated.

If you have USB then you need software (free ) for the laptop to drive the USB to serial convertor.

Lots of good setup info in the Tunerpro help file at top of Tunerpro screen.

Re: Getting started data logging

Thanks for the reply. After some digging I figured it out. There is a step by step on moates website witch is very helpful. TunerPro was on com1 while my laptop usb port was on com6. once i switched it i could connect immediatly. now the fun stuff of doing some data logging and figure out why my car is breaking up and flatening out at certain rpm.
