too much cam for the ebl?

Looking at this for my build... too much cam or can ebl handle it?

Re: too much cam for the ebl?

Well i have a EBL and i also have a cam with a .515 intake and a .530 exhaust lift and have it running pretty good so i would say it can handle it....

If it can be run with a carb, it can be run with the EBL. It will just take some open loop operation, some educated guesses and TPS based Alpha N running at lower rpms.

BTW, that cam is a TERRIBLE grind and won't get you anything but a lumpy idle.

This cam will blow the doors off the one you are looking at quite litterally.

You need to consider all variables when selecting your cam. I suggest you talk with several cam companies reps as to which cam would be best. Answer all the questions honestly. You will find that you have a great running engine when everything is taken into consideration.

I have a 1980 C10 truck with a stock cammed 350 that has vortecs on it. It has some fairly sticky 275/60/R15s on it. With 3.08s and a 3spd saginaw, at 45 mph in 2nd gear, I can put the truck sideways on dry pavement. This proves to me the stock cam is sometimes ideal for your needs.

my build is a bit different... this is for a 4x4 application. Its going to be lo5 block with vortec heads (with beehive springs), 46mm tb, gmpp intake, roller rockers, etc. 4.56 gears and 40" tires on a 5400lbs rig.

the EBL is catching on in the 4x4 world.

The EBL is an awesome product. I have a fullsize van that ran on the EBL when it was TBI and even TPI.

Here is what I would consider for your rig. Somthing that will work with a stock tight torque converter, low-rise dual plane intake, and have the throttle response to give it the right amount of powerr when needed. A mild cam makes even more sense here. The hydraulic roller in my van is very similar to this cam and it is GREAT for all around conditions.

Re: too much cam for the ebl?

that does look like a pretty good cam.... now I have some decision making to do. I've been tempted to keep the stock springs in and just go with a smaller cam but I really think adding the beehive springs for more lift will be more of a benefit in my application.

I think I've seen a video of your van doing some Hellacious burnouts. You dont see that everyday which is damn cool in my book.

I'm really surprised more 4x4 guys haven't caught onto the EBL yet. Sixty on here is building a 383 using one and his seems to be a beast. I have a feeling that more 4x4 junkies will go this direction. Simple injection is nice for us on the trail... and being able to get great performace with simple TBI injection is awesome. Just seems to be a no brainer for our use. I've been playing with it a bit with my pretty much stock Lo5 and its amazing. I cant wait to get my new parts on and get rolling.

Re: too much cam for the ebl?

I ended up going this route... should be decent for me and save me some bucks on the beehive springs...
