Shift light
Shift light
Guys I have read through a ton of posts about making the shift light work with an automatic and still haven't found the answer I am looking for. I just want to know how it is turned on? Does the ECM just ground the shift light wire or does it send out 12v? My gut tells me it grounds it so it doesn't have the amp draw but I want to be certain before I start ripping into it.

Re: Shift light
The shift light is grounded to turn it on.
$8D code in a '7730?
You may not be able to get the shift light to work when the TCC option is enabled. The purpose (in the stock code) of the shift light is to tell the driver when to shift for best fuel economy. Basically, it is a stick shift only option.
Code changes can be made to change this functionality.

Re: Shift light
Thanks RBob, you're the man!
I am actually going to wire it into my Gen 7. I don't want to put in an aftermarket shift light...It would just add clutter and then I would have to find somewhere to mount it. I figured since its there I might as well use it. I know its not the brightest thing but it sure is brighter than staring at the tach. Thanks again!
