Strange SES Light Behavior

I was datalogging today, and had the check engine light come on for a brief instant (fraction of a second), and go away immediately. As soon as the light came on, the engine seemed to bog (was cruising, throttle did not move). Suspecting it dropped into limp mode, I glanced over at the laptop which had TunerPro running, and I was still getting ALDL data. The RPMs started to hang high for the next 15 seconds or so while I pulled over (I was out of gear). After the RPMs came back down to normal, the car seemed to run normally. I shut the car off, and checked for codes. All I had was 12. Started the car up, seems to be running ok, and started datalogging again. A few minutes later, it happened again. This time I let it continue running. Other than the bog for a few seconds and the temporary hanging RPMs, the car seemed fine afterwards.

Before driving, I had made some VE table changes, and uploaded the new bin to my Ostrich. I verified the Ostrich memory with the file, and it verified ok. I'm going to go back to the previous bin tomorrow and see if the problem is still there.

Browsing through old posts, I found a few people that had something similar happen, but no explanation. If I had to guess what happened, I would say the ECM dropped into limp mode, and back out. I don't think I've ever seen an ECM jump out of limp mode on its own though. Anyone have any input on this?

Uploaded the previous bin, and drove for 30 min or so this morning. Everything seems fine, haven't had the same problem. That doesn't rule out an intermittent problem though, hopefully thats not the case.

Re: Strange SES Light Behavior

I had my 6E bin do that once, coming up to a stop light. RPM went up and stayed, I just shifted into neutral and they came back down. Did it just that once, before when the TF was set too high, the shift into neutral seemed to help. Just a border line thing.

Are you using a ZIF adapter? That happened to me too many times using one.
