AE and PE? In depth explanation?

I understand that PE basically kicks in at a certain % TPS, but what exactly does it do when it kicks in?

And AE basically controls how much fuel is injected when you press the gas to accelerate?

Can someone give me an in-depth explanation of both of these, including:

-What exactly they control?
-Best way to tune them?
-What happens when they engage?

I remember reading that when tuning your car, that setting the PE (%tps) really high so it never engages, but when you are ready to tune the PE, turn it back to stock settings and tune it AFTER everything else has been tuned. is this correct?

thanks

PE adds more fuel and spark when engaged.
-not sure what they control other than fuel and spark
-best if used in moderation

Re: AE and PE? In depth explanation?

I asked thet Q about a month or two ago. Rbob provided the details.

PE I understand offers a commanded A/F based upon RPM and utilizes last seen BLM when ever the TPS attains that value set in bin(40%-50%-60%). If BLM is adding fuel it uses that. If removing fuel it uses 128. Safety.

AE I understand occurs when the TPS% change is attained over a set period of time. Volume and duration can be set in bin. Same on change in MAP. AE-TPS is the predominant provider of enrichment. MAP is a filler. AE MAP can occur with no change in TPS. Trick Q how can that happen? Simplistic answers I gave. Search for RBobs answer to my question. It was in a thead started by another poster.

Re: AE and PE? In depth explanation?

How are ae and pe affected if the ecm is left in open loop at all times? I will be disabling closed loop for tuning and do not plan to put it back into closed loop. I am doing this because I will be using a wb02 for tuning all aspects of the ve table including idle, part throttle, and wot

Re: AE and PE? In depth explanation?

I ran OL for a season off and on. Result was gas mileage went in toilet. Mostly due to air temps in Wis can vary greatly day to day and same from early AM to PM. I dont believe there is any change in AE-PE from OL operation. I will guess it still looks at BLM data even though not used to correct A/F.
