need a little help with ecm and prom
Here is what i got 1987 iroc 5.7 tpi.
It did not have a ecm in it. I had a 1986 5.0 trans am ecm laying around. the 5.0 ecm is a 1227165. Here is where it gets good i know nothing about camaros i am a honda guy. i just want to get this car running for a family member. I burn chips for my honda all the time i have a moates burn1. I am wanting to know if i get a stock 5.7 bin file burn it to the chip. Put the chip in the 1227165 5.0 ecm will it run correct. i am not in to making hp just getting it to run like stock for my cousin.

It should work like a charm. The 350 and 305 cars used the same ECMs with different MemCALs. Get him a Moates adapter and burn him the correct bin for his car.

The G1 will work, but the GP1 will add a ZIF socket (for easy removal and installation of the new chips) and also comes with two chips.
G1 plus one chip will be $40, GP1 is $55. The ZIF socket probably wont allow you to reinstall the cover plate on the ECM (too tall).

will my Ostrich emulator work on this also for live tuning i am tring to talk him in to turboing it. then i could tune it easier in the future with out having to pop chips in and out so much.

It'll work as long as you plan on leaving it in the car. If you're not going to leave it in the car, might as well get the adapter and chips on the way.
