Charting logs

Yes, I searched!

All Im trying to do is take the data logs from my Zeitronix ZT2, and translate them into some X&Y charts that look like what we'd see in the ECM.

Something like

........20 30 40 50 60 ......
400
800
1200
1600
...

But instead of the VE values, I'd get the actual AFR values from the logs.

Has this been done, and I just can't find it!? I scoured the web for hours today. Nadda.

Re: Charting logs

??? Does your Zetronix log MAP/RPM/TPS by means of an analog input?

If so then I think all you can do is get those above values with A/F or lambda values listed in a column.
ie. time of event- RPM -A/f or lambda- tps-MAP
66.1 sec- 2000- 1.05- 35%- 60

Keep in mind the those values change every .10 second so your example would require 100's of those tables.

As you are prob aware VE tables have no relationship to A/F other than to get fueling at stoich and then only at CL.

I use my WB logs only to tune AE and PE. Thats about it. Having the analog input is very helpfull. this spring I will patch the WB A/F into my datalogs as Lambda values.

Re: Charting logs

I've stripped the (converted to .csv) logs down, so all I have is MAP, RPM, and AFR.
Admittedly the MAP readings are all in in.hg. not KPA, so some massaging is required there, but....

WinALDL, and MegaSquirt both create logs in this format.

I can then see at a glance if a given RPM vs. MAP reading is high/low/spot on.
Since it's already in the same format/shape/whatever as the ECM maps, altering things isn't that hard.

Sure, I can just dig through the logs manually - but it's really not that intuitive.

I've been in touch with Zeitronix, and they like the concept. Said they'll try to incorporate it in the next software release.
I requested a high/low/average button, and to be able to scale the table for different sizes of ECM maps. See what they come up with!

Re: Charting logs

Use Excel's Pivot Table function... But first, make some rounded values for RPM and MAP, for example, to round MAP to the nearest 10, use =ROUND(A1,-1) in a new column next to MAP, and to round RPM to the nearest 100, use =ROUND(A1,-2). The A1 is the number you want to round (not actually A1). The -2 is number of decimal places (- is for left of decimal). If you want to round to numbers other than factors of 10, 100, 1000, there's some tricks (like multiply by 2, round, then divide by 2, i.e. nearest 5 is =ROUND(A1*2,-1)/2)
Then, go to "Data" "PivotTable and PivotChart Report..." and follow the next and next for Pivot Table. When there's an option button for "Layout", click it, and then Click and drag the MAP to the columns, RPM to the Rows, and AFR to the data to report. For the AFR, click on it, and probably want to show the average.
Then Finish.

Enjoy!

Re: Charting logs

Something tells me you are running open loop and correcting fueling in those cells by witnessing A/F? Otherwise in CL all the cells should read stoich with BLM correction.

........ 20 30 40 50 60 ......

400
800 "all stoich A/F"
1200
1600
...

Awesome! I know the basics of excel, but that's way more in depth than I could have come up with... thanks!

As for the above post... yes, I've locked out CL at the moment, so I can tweak the table to at least get it CLOSE to right (it's seriously whacked right now!). Then I'll re-enable CL and let it play on it's own.

I think my biggest problem right now (other than some cells in the idle region making me hit 11:1 or richer!) is AE. I keep diving into the 19-21:1 region during acceleration (as the engine falls flat on it's face of course!). I've only had an hour or so to play with it since I got it to the point of being 'drivable'.
