I got a 1987 iroc all stock with 5.7 tpi. i got a this iroc and it did not have a ECM i had a 5.0 ecm put the 50 ecm it ran the car like crap. i found a 5.7 corvette not sure what year but the numbers on the ecm was a 01227165 this ecm want even start the car. I have been tuning import cars for a while now first ever camaro i have ever had. so i already had a burn1 from moates. i purchased a moates GP1, downloaded Tuner Pro and Flash & Burn. so i got it all in and tryed it out i am not sure if its the Prom i burned or car had issues befor. the Tach is at 2500 at idle and when you give a little throttle the tach peggs out to the highest rpm even though at idle its not over 800 rpms and revs no higher than 2000 rpm. also i get a code 41 cel. i used bin abwt 32.bin and abwt88ta.bin files from moates web site
i am not sure if i am doing it correct any help would be great and tunerpro tips would help

Tough post to follow. However, I think we can help you out. The '7165 ECM is the correct one for '86 through '89 f-body's. This is a MAF set up.

Head over to the DFI & ECM board here, in the sticky's shows what the MEMCAL looks like. Has a quick explanation of the PROM and it's location on the MEMCAL.

Odds are, the Corvette '7165 ECM you tried has VATs enabled in it. This is why the engine wouldn't start.

In f-body's VATs wasn't installed until the '89 MY. So if the PROM has VATs enabled, it won't run in a pre-'89 MY f-body.

As for the tach, ignore it. They are known to be why off, and worse, it may be a 6-cyl tach.

Code 41, that is a cylinder select error. That means the MEMCAL isn't from a V8 calibration. Most likely that MEMCAL is from a 6-cylinder truck '7165 ECM.

Open TunerPro then open ARAP or APYP bin using the 6e XDF file. Look under Flags and switches and uncheck "vats enable", should be the third one down. Be sure to save the file. Next you need to burn a chip with the new file. That should get you started if the chip is the problem. If your not sure how to do this we can talk you thru it.

Re: need some help with prom for 87 iroc
For a MAF setup with the '165 ecm in TunerPro you set the 4th line in the constants for the number of cylinders you have. The size of the engine does not matter with the MAF ECM. The other thing to look at is injector size, the APYP bin is set at 22.??. Thats the stock size injector for a 350 but needs to be set to the size you are actually running.

I'm not real sure how to explain the bin and xdf file but read thishttps://www.thirdgen.org/forums/diy-...uide-book.html and it should help.

Back to the code 41 error. With the GP1 installed in the ECM, was the MEMCAL plugged into the side of it? If not that will cause the cylinder select error.
