Re: 730 ECM / $8D / BAUJP.......Boost with the $8D

Thanks for the reply. I have been thinking about doing this. I wouldn't think that it would take alot. Just rework the ve and timing tables to deal with a three bar. I am not sure if that would alow for enough resolution to be very driveable. My application is a full on drag car with no O2 and open headers but I would like to put it back on the street though. I am going to play with this a little and see what I can come up with but code 59 seams easier.

Re: 730 ECM / $8D / BAUJP.......Boost with the $8D

i think the whole reason he did this in the first place was to stay away from going 3bar map. and the idle code in 8d being better, even thou its AE is a nightmare to someone that can't tune for crap like me lol. thats why i run 59 on my NA car as well, that i have no worrys letting my girl drive around. as i've learned, putting together a girl friend proof tune is much much harder(for me) than dealing with my own stuff lol.

if its a drag car and you want a 3bar. 59 seems like a no brainer to me. you will be up in running is a few hours.

It doesn't. Rescale the MAP, adjust pulse width, and adjust timing. The 1-bar MAP sensor reaches its full scale reading of 5V at 1 bar of pressure, and at 1 bar, the 2-bar sensor is at half of full scale and will produce 2.5V output. The 2-bar MAP sensor, 1 bar of boost, or 14.7 psi, is required to reach the full scale output of 5V....

2bar map sensor:
0.00v-2.5v = 29.99 inHg - 0.00psi
2.51v-5.00v = 0.01psi - 14.5psi

3bar map sensor:
0.00v-1.67v = 29.99 inHg - 0.00psi
1.68v-3.33v = 0.01psi - 14.5psi
3.34v-5.00v = 14.6psi - 29.0psi

Re: 730 ECM / $8D / BAUJP.......Boost with the $8D

i believe to do it right, everything needs to be changed thats based off the ve table, which is a lot on a map based code. or almost everything. from AE, DE, timing, all the idle setting. PE settings. just like every setting. but since i haven't done it. who knows.

still the ve table in 8d is tiny, why even deal with it. the ve table in 59 is freaking huge. i mean the 0-100kpa section is bigger than all of 8d's ve table. even the extended hacks ive seen.

i don't see it unless you need maybe the air dirveter or something like that.

Oh absolutely, I didn't mention that because I thought he was only questioning how to compensate for boost with the $8D mask. You'll want to select your injector size based on your particular application, perhaps keep idle characteristics in Open Loop, change the values in the look-up tables (alpha-n) to smooth out the PE, then of course rescale MAP kpa....

???, So you are running 59 without boost? I will have to spin that up on my test bench first and then move it to the race car before I get the turbo on the car. I have had to eliminate the O2 sensor, AIR, EGR and IAC to run c16 and a .680 lift, 268@50 and 105 lobe center cam. I am going to back up on the cam and compression when I add the boost.

That "girlfriend proof tune" is funny stuff being as my 16 yr old daughter pisses off a lot of old men in this car at the track.

Thanks alot guys for your input on this I will get back to you on my findings. OH yeah and my goal is to run in the 8 second range and still drive it to the beer store.

yeah, i have 59 on my boost car thats pretty much apart and parked always lol. on my girl's NA formula which is a almost stocked cammed 406 with pretty good heads that was meant to be a daily driver but snowballed. but it runs as good as it did bone stock, just much faster. and my buddy's 93 z28 that we repinned to run a 727 ecm, throwing away the opti and running the caddy northstar coil packs. its still NA right now and he drove it to work for a few months daily but the plan is to build a turbo for it and run the maxtion mile with that car. but hes sorta side tracked with dirt bikes at the moment.

none of these cars are as much of a race car as yours by far, but i think it will do what you need. i enjoy working with it. the guys have done good things for the adv user. the power user guys that can do the coding stuff will always have their ways. but i try to stick to a level i can enjoy and understand.

You can run Code59 in 1 Bar mode (just like you could with 58). Your resolution for the fuel table would be rediculous. But we haven't done much testing with this and I haven't made a 1 bar XDF for it. There is a 1bar XDF up on Code59 that a member created and running 59 in 1 bar mode. But this isn't really supported by us but should work. If someone wants to help me, I can go through the 1 bar XDF and make any corrections I have form the lastes 59 XDF. Also I would possibly need to Create a 1bar ADS/ADX but someone would need to post any errors they find in them as I wouldn't be 100% sure if it was correct.

I spent a few ays about a year ago creating a 1 BAR XDF, since I figured I'd have the car it was intended for running last summer. I'll find it and see about posting it.

hmm if i don't have to buy a 3bar i might just see about repinning my beater, almost daily driver 92 rodeo and seeing how 59 does on 1bar mode.

that is if its not a total pain to rewire lol. i'll have to look for a pin out for it and see if its doable. it runs like crap when its cold starts and its hot outside. i've always wished i could tune that out lol

Re: 730 ECM / $8D / BAUJP.......Boost with the $8D

I guess you can use a 3bar sensor and still use that for a n/a motor if desire to use $59... only advantage to that is if you plan to add boost later and want to tune motor first.

hell my car drives around fine out of boost, it spends most of its time under 100KPA anyway..no different than 1 bar..just dont have the resolution. With the closed throttle table for idle and using the regular VE table for all other points, it does well.

I'm just having abit harder time dialing in the low map areas for free revs and such... 80 lb injectors and minor changes to VE make it harder to dial in I guess...

I have been to buisy to play with $59 on my 7730 test bench but I can see the light at the end of the tunnel. I would be glad to do a test spin on the bench if anybody needs.
