Please bare with me guys as I'm going to dip my feet into this scanning/data logging and eventually try my luck at chip burning. My 89 GTA, 5.7ltr, (L98) with MAF is giving me problems and I realize I need to collect data from the ECM to troubleshoot this. Research I've done on scanning software varies and I'm sure there are pros and cons on each. There are 3 I'm considering and would like input from you pros out there.

WinALDL
TunerPro
TunerCat

In addition I read articles on 160 Baud and 8192 Baud...What is the difference ?
And what is meant by closed and or open loop ?

Thanks everyone

Baud I believe is the speed of the data being semt. SEARCH for more info on that. I tink winALDL has more info on their site on BAUD. you need to set that in the program you are using I believe. Not sure if needs setting in cable.

ALDL cable is a good choice as well as Craig Moates. also set the comp port being used to match cable.

I would use TunerPro RT. Free to trial then pay like $20-$25 to avoid a pop up screen to log in.

I used TunerCat day one and worked well for me. Check their site. Check all three to learn more.
