idle higher than I set?

i changed my idle from 550 to 600 at 68 degrees C and instead of idling at 600 it idles at 1300 in park and 850 in gear when its around 70 degrees C, but when i had it set to 550 it was having a bit of a hard time but it was around 600 in park and 550 in gear... any ideas?
i never re-adjusted my iac and the tps still reads .55 with my foot off of it

Sure doesn't make sense... I'd go back to what you had and make sure your adjusting the right part. You sure you have the correct definition/mask file?

Re: idle higher than I set?

I'm using the $1F for TP, it seems to work on other accounts except my idle...

yeah everything on my 870 is in Kpa and C and so are my gagues, from the pictures i've seen that seems to be how they made them... also if it was in Farenheit then my idle would always be 550 the table ends at 115

I set my target idle to 350rpm through the range as a test, now its at 1000 in park and 850 in D

i bought an origenal 85 TA service manual at a swap meet and it seems my tps is suppose to be from .5-4.5 so i reset that but it didn't make a diffrence...

also at 58C the iac is suppose to be at 40 steps mine is at 80 all the time except when cranking its at 144, the iac is brand new and had the same head as the origenal so i'm not sure why its not working with that, I havent checked what my current idle would be if i unplugged the dist ESC wire but i don't think it'll go below 700

I would try the on in link above. Def files are know to cause havoc.

Does your TPS % move smoothly in your datalog? Does the coolant temp report well in datalogs? Any eroneous readings?

Re: idle higher than I set?

my tps and coolant temp seem fairly consistent, also after a week or so of driving it changing my "target idle rpm" actually had no effect on my idle at all, I downloaded the 1F on eagle mark's website, it doesn't really look any diffrence except the maf table #6 and coolant compensation spark switched places, the data in them is still the same

Re: idle higher than I set?

i just tried a data log, i think my ads is wrong, or is now wrong? my load variable was just slowly going up through the whole drive? i'm not sure what to think anymore...

I downloaded winaldl, tuner pro is very off on my coolant temps and the load variable, everything else seems fine? win aldl's coolant temps made more sence with my gauge than tuner pro's so i think tuner pro is 20 degrees F colder than the car actually is? which makes my idle look even worse

Re: idle higher than I set?

I'l start by saying I'm not familiar with that mask.
Some "idle" parameters may be based on a different RPM multiplier than the main RPM readings.
The def file could have the multiplier for 6400 RPM (/25) rather than by 12.5 or other. IE, you could be entering 25 RPM per bit instead of the 12.5 per bit that the parameter really is.
Try increasing in smaller amounts and see if the results change by a lesser RPM. That might prove the theory anyway.

Re: idle higher than I set?

i'm using eagle mark's DEF file now, i never made any changes to it just my bin?

I'm trying to figure out how to modify the ADX file but i'm a bit clueless as to how that works, I would like to work in a BPW-vehicle speed to figure out my instant mileage and put in a proper LV8 calculator.

i downloaded an ADS off moates website that was modified for a 427 but using my ecu, the coolant and everything matches up i just needed to adjust the equation for %TPS for my base TPS voltage so thats working now, it uses the location the winaldl and the other ads says is LV8/load for "knock count" so again i'm very confused with that considering win aldl only counted knocks when i dropped the hammer a low rpms, which i did hear and fixed

Re: idle higher than I set?

in case this happens to someone else...
trial and error essentially fixed it, my "coolant compensation spark" has a dramatic effect on the idle where as the "spark VS RPM VS load" has no effect on the idle and the "target idle rpm" seems to have no effect, I feel like the DEF file for this ECM is very wrong, or things have odd precedence?

Re: idle higher than I set?

So was the coolant comp table changed from the stock settings previously or was that done just before this high idle occurred?
Is it back to the stock values now?
The correction made is not clear to as to what you did.
Thx

Re: idle higher than I set?

I was using the "stock" tune that i got from moates website, when the BLM's from the chip that had been in my car came into play with this "stock" tune the idle was fine, but after i pulled the battery cable to re-set everything the high idle occurred and has yet to go away until I removed most of the timing, its still not really right
(I only drove it for one evening before i reset the ecm this was meant as a test, I always reset the ECM with the fuse after i make any changes)
