Prom issues

I've recently done a 305 to 350 swap in my 91 Trans Am. 7730 ECM. I've also purchased the Moates Ostrich 2.0, G1 Adapter, and ALDLU1 to use for tuning. Looking back, I wish I would've just bought the Autoprom and been able to burn chips as well. Live and learn I guess.

I've gotten the engine in and running on the stock 305 ECM. The engine is pulling out a lot of timing. Research on this site and a few others has told me that I'm going to need a knock sensor for a 350 instead of the 305 one I have in at the moment. That's fine, but as a byproduct of my research on this subject, it's come to my attention that I need to find a PROM from a 350 car, 90-92, as well due to the difference with the ESC between the 2.

Here's my questions:
Would the fact I'm running a 305 PROM at the moment be part of the reason I'm having spark retard issues?

AND

Do I really need to get a new PROM beings how I'm planning on tuning with the emulator and having the shop I'm using burn me a new chip when their done anyway? Meaning, does the "circuitry" I'm needing for the ESC portion of the PROM have to PHYSICALLY come from a 350 PROM, or can that all be gotten from a generic BIN file that I can use through the emulator until I have it permanently burned onto a chip?

Re: Prom issues

The circuits are physical resistors, etc in the memcal.
You can program so the retard does not happen but that means not using the knock sensing capability.
To get the proper knock sensing capability the system should be parts matched as best as possible.

Re: Prom issues

That's what I figured. Anybody have a PN of what I need then? I've got a line on a couple of them, but I'm not sure they're the correct ones.
