UNIVERSAL USB IC PROGRAMMER BATRONIX BX32 BATUPO

I am wondering if anyone here is using the BATRONIX BX32 BATUPO UNIVERSAL USB IC PROGRAMMER? Newark has them $146 http://www.newark.com/jsp/search/pro...sp?sku=53M6868

http://www.farnell.com/datasheets/72577.pdf

The specs show the BATRONIX BX32 BATUPO will program the 2732x series of chips, and auto detects the required voltages. Maybe the BATRONIX BX32 BATUPO can auto detect the OEM EEPROMs common to the 1227165 / 1227730 ECM chips? The specs also show the SST 27SF512 is also programmable. Device list: http://www.batronix.com/pdf/BX32Batupo-DeviceList.pdf

Why not use a Willems GQ-3X or GQ-4X for the same chips?

Maybe because the boss has an account with Newark! Maybe because I could use the programmer after hours.

Oh, so this would basically be free for you...

I only suggest the Willems, because it is cheaper, and I have hands on experience with it.

Re: UNIVERSAL USB IC PROGRAMMER BATRONIX BX32 BATUPO

I've learned some good tech info using the "auto detect" feature of the Batronix BX 32. I have a couple different factory 27C256 EPROM's. When using the "auto detect" feature on the 27C256, I'm given the option of selecting Fairchild or National Semiconductor 28 pin dip 27C256 Variants. With some internet research, I found 27C256 data sheet information ( http://ecee.colorado.edu/~mcclurel/fnm27c256.pdf ) about the programming voltages. With more research, I should be able to know if all the 27C256 Variants use the same programming voltage? My research so far, has shown me the 27C256 Variants use a much different programming voltage than the 2732a Variants!

There are other lower cost USB programmers, but I like what I've seen and learned using the Batronix BX32.
