Im still pondering this idea? I love all the extra parameters in $8D that everyone has. Makes sence to why i look at all the stickys on 730 ecu's and I cant find the stuff there talking about! And if the stuff is in my mask its a different header name.

Im not sure if there is a similar bin that is close to mine(that works with $8D) that i could use and transfer all the info. There is like no info at all on this swap. All i can find is people trading out there $88 mask and such for a $58 or $8E (IIRC those were the masks, wow theres alot of them) mainly swaped for turbo applications......

You have to use an $8D BIN, such as AUJP ('90 5.7l TPI, auto). And also use a $8D XDF and ADS file.

Then change various calibration parameters. Such as # cylinders (2 places), displacement, injector flow, spark and VE tables. Then flash it to a chip and go from there.

As previously posted the EGR is different, 3-wires versus 1-wire for $8D (digital versus vacuum).

The AIR system is 1 solenoid for the 3.1l engine. The TPI $8D is set up for 2 solenoid AIR system. This is an option flag change in the calibration.

IIRC, there is something with the A/C compressor control too. Can't quite recall what it is. Dash switch polarity maybe?

You should get the wiring for both and compare them. Then do the best you can and see what happens. Correct along the way. BTDT many times. The key is to not expect it to be a plug & play, that discovery/changes along the way may be required.

Also check the P/S switch, in $88 it is used. Odds are that there is an option flag for $8D to use it if required.

The major I/O will be the same as they are dedicated to that function. Items such as the O2 sensor, MAP, TPS, EST & ESC interface (among others) is the same pins. This is due to dedicated hardware for these functions.

Ok RBob thanks again for the help, i already changed some values, Prom ID, injector flow, VSS, and # of cyl, stuff like that. Ill look up some wireing diagrams and see what they look like.

I dont have AC in the car or the AIR system, but i do have egr so ill do some researching.

Ok the i found the pin outs on a 1990 TPI and they look the same, it was actually easier to find the pin outs on a 3.1L but seemed the same as much as i can tell.

Ok the more i get into this info im thinking i just need to do this transferr of info once, and im not thinking th $8D can handle boost(+100kpa). Is there a bin and xdf that will work with my 730 ecu with or without doing the pinout? What about $59??
