D2 adapter usage

I was going to contact Craig Moates with some questions, but then I'm not the only newbie here. So I'll post it here for all to follow. I hope I'm not the only one wondering about the usage of this product.

I got the GP1 package which includes the D2 adapter (see attachment). But I have yet to use it for the lack of.........How? My target is a 305 TPI/7730. I have burnt chips successfully via AutoProm and very pleased with the support and quality of Craig's hardware. And let's not forget Mangus TPRT.

My questions are:
1. How is D2 adapter used?
2. Is it to replace the G1 adapter w/zif socket once the programming is done? I know one can leave the G1 adapter attached to the ECM.
3. Can the D2 replace the original chip in the memcal to use the 27SF512 chips?
4. Is there a HOW-TO for any of the above in particular #4?
in advance.

Re: D2 adapter usage

Yeah, that's great. Thanks EagleMark. I guess that covers #3 & #4 which is my intent.
Are #1 & #2 addressed at the same time, or are there other uses?

Re: D2 adapter usage

Pretty sure yes! You would solder that D2 socket into the Memcal in nplace of the cut out chip. But you should have a header to read chip first if you don't have that bin file.

But I find it easier to solder in the chip instead, and use the other product Moates has called a header, fits in Memcal on chip side to read, write and erase chip in a burner.

Re: D2 adapter usage

Thanks. I have the HDR1 also. I think that just about covers all the questions above. Man I sure am glad Craig makes products for us to program using TunerPro RT. Still learning and fits my Hot rods projects just fine. I only have time now, great to be retired.
