VE table cell question

I was doing some datalogging and tuning the other night and ran across a question. Suppose for instance, that in my datalog my RPM was dead on at 1450 RPM and the MAP was 30 kPa. Which cell would the ecm be referencing, a single cell, or the average of the two cells (1400 and 1500)?

But suppose I was in the upper VE table and my RPM was 1900. Would the value chosen be only the 2000 RPM VE cell?

On a 3D table such as VE1, the ECM interpolates between the 4 surrounding cells (rows & columns).

On a 2D table such as VE2, the ECM interpolates between the 2 adjacent cells (rows).

The SA Logic writeup at the very end explains this along with an example. See the Tuning Guide Book sticky, Chapter 5, 8063/8746/7747 section.

Note by VE1 and VE2, this is '7747 ECM ($42) stuff, not the '7730 $8D mask.

Ah, if it wasn't stated for the 730, I never really looked at it.
