Preliminary report~ 200* makes my car happy
I put a 195* t-stat back in my car last night and so far everything seems better. It's like the computer stars alligned. My car idled @ <700 RPM for the first time in I don't know when. It runs richer and idle BLMs are skyrocketing. I could never seem to get it to idle down enough to "see" the lower end of the MAF table. Apparently, when I had a 180* stat and an auxillary fan control I was basically tuning with the "choke" on.
I noticed a while back that when it got "hot" it ran different. I turned off my aux fan control and it seemed better. Now with the stock temp t-stat it is coming more in line. I was thinking that it makes sense. So many of the variables are temp sensitive that when running under the "design temp" too many adjustments are being made. Rather than fighting it I just went with it and I am glad I did. For the longest it seemed I was chasing AFR's up and down not realizing why everything would change. I have been fouling plugs and just couldn't get it to settle down. Whether it makes more power at this temp remains to be seen but at least I have a consistant temp to tune.
Anyway, I just wanted to share this info and see what comments and experiance you have had. I will keep you posted on how this works. I think I am on to something here...
