Re: Trouble Datalogging
I'm trying to think if there are any external issues that could cause this, like a missing power or something. The only thing that I can come up with is a possible ground issue. Check over the grounds VERY carefully. Check for voltage on the ground wires at the ECM, when it is plugged in. This is a good indication that there is a grounding issue, if you see this.
Otherwise I'd say it's an ECM problem. Best bet at this point is get another ECM and test it in place of the one you have. This will verify the integrity of the wiring and related systems in the vehicle.

I'll do some looking around and see what's available for an ecm, luckily I live in an area where these trucks are everywhere.
6299, That's an ecm out of a 92, pretty much all the same applications. Interesting, what's different about it? Still uses the G2 adapter I assume.

Re: Trouble Datalogging
You could still solder in the g2 it does use a 2732 as well. I have no idea firmware wise the difference it was a one year only ecm. You would need to download a $99 definition .bin from gearhead-efi . I have a automatic one in there now. I pulled this from my 92k1500 years ago and went with a 747 because I was doing alot of long distance driving and figured if the ecm ever gave out I don't want to have some odd ball that I could get stuck somewhere. Its your for $12 shipped if you want it.

Re: Trouble Datalogging
We'll see. I figured out something kinda strange. Using a chip with ASDX I hear the IAC clicking and the truck idles at 1500 RPM, but with the AMUR bin it idles at 600 and there's no noise from the IAC. In the files themselves they both have max IAC set to 145 and minimum position after power removal is 25. Maybe this is only a discovery to me but I thought a code 51 meant the EPROM wasn't being used at all.

Re: Trouble Datalogging
Because if you had read through the thread you'd see that an attempt was made with the stock PROM, and the same result, at this point it seems to be a hardware issue, not a programming issue.

Re: Trouble Datalogging
Changing chips probably wasn't the cause of the excessively high idle. Old ecm was getting warm on the trip to the junkyard so that's not a great sign. Got another 7747 ecm, put it in and it started up and ran, still idles at about 1500 rpm like the last one. However the code 51 is gone. Gonna try a datalog, THEN solder in the G2 adapter.

Re: Trouble Datalogging
you might want to start a thread in tbi and check for vacuum leaks especially the tbi base gasket.

Re: Trouble Datalogging
that one I'll try to figure out on my own first. Datalog on the unmolested ecm was a success! although I didn't do very much. Tomorrow I'll see if I can get this thing to work with the EEPROM.

Re: Trouble Datalogging
Got the adapter soldered in, and with the chip that came with the ecm, I only get a code 12 which is good. However, when I put a 27sf512 in, the SES light just stays on. So along with double checking the offsets I've looked up some more moates instructions http://support.moates.net/troubleshooting-burn1burn2/ and the only problem I'm running into is after hitting "program chip" if I hit "verify w/ buffer" it doesn't match. If I hit "read chip" then verify it, then it's a match. Do I have some bad chips or something?

What are the offsets you are using?
What version of Tuner Pro are you using?

Chip Addressing Start: 00F00
End: 00FFFF
Buffer Addressing Start: 000000
End: 000FFF
Tunerpro RT 5.00.8075.00 just re-downloaded it a few days ago.
When I try to burn chips in flash n burn it seems like it just isn't burning them. Which explains why reading the empty chip into the buffer causes it to match.

No, I've bought all my tuning stuff from moates. I wouldn't think they would be counterfeit coming from them.

Chip start address should be F000.
Are you using the stand alone Flash 'n' Burn Utility or the Flash 'n' burn utility built into Tuner Pro RT?

Re: Trouble Datalogging
ah, forgot a zero when I typed it out, haha. I use the standalone, and I have one chip that will burn and works in the ecm. I have marked it as my lucky chip. So I'm guessing the burn 2 is ok.
