so pretty much I cant figure this out. been searching for hours its time to just ask for help. took my ECU out and everything I know where it goes I just cant figure out how to remove the old chip and put in the new one. do I need to re solder the new one or can I just plug it in? how do i get the old one out if its soldered in? i tried punching it out with a needle but it just bent all the pins? can some1 point me in the right direction please?

if its the small chip thats in the TBI cars you just pull out the chip/carrier and put your pointer fingers under the tabs on the sides and push the center in with your thumbs, like getting the ice out of one of those plastic forms.
thats how i always did it, and i found a chip in a G20 van with thicker stronger pins to use for taking out and re-programming.

P&P is to order a G1 adapter from Craig (www.moates.net). G1 plugs into ECM, PROM goes into the socket, MEMCAL gets plugged into the header on the G1.
The soldering iron way is to unsolder the current chip and solder in a socket (28 pin machined pin socket). Then place the new PROM in the socket and install the modified MEMCAL.
