I think it is excellent, well done sir! Going to look into the ALDL app when I get to the house tonight, again, well done...
Re: ALDLdroid, Android app for your stock ECU, now on Play!
OTG cable showed up, bought, and connected to my 1992 Firebird TBI (61.adx data stream). Worked without a hitch outside of the dashboard not picking up coolant temp and the MAT (both were red). Have to play around with that a little as it's probably the ADX file, not the program itself.
One thing to note, if you are in the settings area and place a file in the Data Definition directory you have to exit out of the settings and then go back in to get the new file to show up.
Re: ALDLdroid, Android app for your stock ECU, now on Play!
I have a nextbook 8 that says it supports USB host and the supported OTG functions are keyboard and mouse. Would anyone know if aldldroid works\ would work with the netxbook 8? The tablet don't support Bluetooth tho. Also I was wondering when you buy the app on a device under your Google account. Can it be switched to another device or do you need to rebuy the app?
Re: ALDLdroid, Android app for your stock ECU, now on Play!
tmellott89,
If you already have an USB-Serial-ALDL cable then you can test your device's capability by using a free Serial Monitor. Search the play store for "usb serial", there are a number of them there. If it recognizes your cable you're probably good to go. You could go so far as to test it with a real device hooked up to the other end of the cable to see that bytes are being received by the Android.
You can install purchased apps on all your devices so long as you sign in with the same account on all the devices where you want the app.
Re: ALDLdroid, Android app for your stock ECU, now on Play!
I see an update for this APP just came out and in the notes it says he's added support for NVRAM devices, Does anyone know if that includes the one available from Moates for the 7730/7727? or is it just for the Aussies......

I've got a P4 system, so your saying I can purchase the ALDLDROID system and just plug right in like I do with my laptop with the WUD? I'm getting tired of lugging my laptop around with me when I can just take my galaxy tablet instead.

ALDLDROID uses the ALDL data stream. The WUD uses it's own data stream. So no, it won't be the same as if you had the laptop running the WUD. You would get what you would get when using a scan tool.

OK so then I do need to purchase the Bluetooth connection from the moates site?

Need to get a Windows tablet, not DROID. A small tablet that runs the full version of Windows and is at least 800x600 screen resolution. Check some of street lethal posts, he did this and built it into the dash.
Re: ALDLdroid, Android app for your stock ECU, now on Play!
Can't figure out if my phone or tablet has host mode. There nothing in settings for it but my phone will connect to a laptop with a cable. I bought some OTG cables and my phone wouldn't pick up the APU1 device (vehicle was off). Would like to get the USB to work with my phone. It's an LG fiesta. Does anyone know of a cheap tablet that would work also?
Re: ALDLdroid, Android app for your stock ECU, now on Play!
Okay. So I found the RCA Voyager 7" on Amazon for $59.99. Is that the one? Plus I don't want to use Bluetooth, just the USB. Do you use the USB with the RCA?

I just use the USB for aldldroid, It sounds like the same one, I only use the wifi need it to download the app. I also think they make a cheaper version without the key board. in fact I never liked the keyboard and cant remember if I still have it.
Hello brother
Thank you for your effort creating this software.
I would like to ask you few questions that i realy need to know if you dont mind of course.
I already installed turnerproRT AND I already have a yamaga ecu tuner that can creat for me. .bin file.
Now my question is
Suppose i got yamaha tmax bin file
Do i need adx and xdf specifically for tmax so that i can access the bin and tune the values inside the ECU?
I mean do i need exact xda and xdf for each different ECU yhat i try to read its bin files?
Im realy lost and no one anwers me
If i need exact xda and xdf files for specific Ecu's how do i get them?
Suppose i have a yamaha tmax 500 or 530 ECU and i want to remapp
I attach obd2 cable to yamaha ecu flash and press the read button and this creates for me a .bin file
Than i open the file with tunerpro but nothings there. What do i need else
Xda xdf as masks how do i get them
Tunerpro says. That we should firsy load and xdf file than xda than bin file and we will be able to access the data and remapp it.
Can i use any xda and xdf so that i can read the .bin file
Please answer me i beg you
Thank you so much

You need an XDF/ADX file specific to that ECU. If one doesn't already exist, you'd need to be good at computer programming to create one.
ok thx bro but is there any software for generating xdf and xda from bins?
No, I tried explaining. Creating an XDF is no simple matter unless you have access to the source code in the ECU. Many of the XDFs we have today were created by people disassembling the machine code in the binary file and going over it line by line.
What the XDF does is provide the locations of variables contained in the binary file that can be edited, to put it simply. If you don't already know the structure of the code in the binary file, an XDF cannot be created without a lot of effort reading the disassembled machine code

So.you are telling that creating an xdf i need a /dev and disassemble the ecu code how about xda. How about creating xdf and xda from a.bin file?
So an xdf xda files for a yamaha tmax 530 2012 europe. Wont work with a yamaha tmax 530 2012 japan
A yamaha tmax 500 2011 wont work on a yamaha tmax 2010
Or xdf and xda for a tmax works on all tmax models by year. For example
Same xdf xda files for a yamaha tmax 500 ECU 2008 TILL 2011. EUROPE OR JAPAN. AND for tmax 530 2012-2016 europe or usa. Its the same xda and xdf.
Re: ALDLdroid, Android app for your stock ECU, now on Play!
Been using your app for atleast 3 years now. Just contacted you the other day about it running on an android stereo head-unit. So far the app is perfect and flawless.

will any android stereo work or just certain brands?
Re: ALDLdroid, Android app for your stock ECU, now on Play!
i am not sure but i assum any stereo that is android with google play store would run it. Mine has 4gb or 8gb ram, 64GB internal storage, 8core processor.
Re: ALDLdroid, Android app for your stock ECU, now on Play!
I just discovered that it is possible to get data from this old ALDL port onto a smartphone and I am excited.
My problem is that I have never flashed or even worked with ECUs, so I have no idea what ADX file I need for my 91 V6 3.1l, nor where to get it.
I have found and downloaded a "S_AUJP V6" ZIP archive from another thread, but that does not appear to be anything specific for a certain engine or anything like that.

Can anyone clarify this for me? Thanks.
First thing first, what transmission type? MANUAL or AUTOMATIC?
Second thing, your ecm is the 7730 ecm, code mask $88, all files you need can be found on moates.net or tunerpro.net as well. I have access to a very informative and upto date .xdf file that you can use to create the ADX file. I will have to boot up my big desktop tomorrow or saturday. If not you can find it under my thread i created.
Re: ALDLdroid, Android app for your stock ECU, now on Play!
Hey all,
I have been using ALDLdroid for several years now on my LT5 in combination w the Moates Ostrich. Also using the Red River ALDL w BT. Recently I have been getting anomalies in the datastream that look like what I have attached as a pic. Anyone else run into this issue? It works great otherwise and there are no SES, no interruption of engine operation. I only detect it when I look at the logs. Thought it was the prom I was using with Ostrich, but I eliminated that possibility.
My next step is to run a prom directly in order to isolate whether its the app or the Ostrich.

Also, can frame rate be bumped up?
What software are you using? I know mine would do something simular when connection is lost.
Re: ALDLdroid, Android app for your stock ECU, now on Play!
Don't know about the data corruption, other than to say..... it's very old hardware, and this is all "open source" tools with a lot of indirection present - ALDL to bluetooth to Android app, etc. This is very indicative of the type of problems we see with open source tools hacking closed source OEM hardware. There's all kinds of bugs like this and it's basically the price you pay for..... not paying the price of professional tools. LoL.
As for the frame rate - that's the limitation of the OEM hardware. It's not going to log any faster. Even much more modern ECU's are about the same. About 10Hz is typical even with late model ECU's. High speed data logging isn't really a priority for OEM's. And yes you can/will miss things at these low data rates. The EBL is about 15Hz. The LINK stand-alone that I use can log at 1000Hz - by comparison.
OEM's don't rely on these slow data streams. They have dedicated high speed data acquisition equipment for development purposes. The data available from the ECM is used for dealer level troubleshooting (of stock unmodified installations) not for tuning or development.

This turned out to be not having WiFi turned OFF while logging and driving around.
