First data log!

So I just completed my first data logging run. Short trip up to a QuickTrip, got some gas and came back home. Was wondering if you guys could help me decipher the data I collected and throw some helpful tips my way. I recorded using DataMaster. First, some observations. It seems I was mostly running rich in the cells I entered. Also, right after I pulled out of the QuickTrip, around Rec# 3974 my spark retard went crazy and I threw I code 43, ESC error. Never happened before. Coincidentally, I filled up with 93 instead of the usual 89. After I got home, I restarted it and it fixed itself. Also curious if my VATS Fail PID going off and on at times is normal. Finally, what is DRP. Any observations you guys make is welcome.

Re: First data log!

The problem with a .uni file is that unless one has Data Master they can't look at it.

An '88 shouldn't have VATs, although it just may (being a Firebird).

DRP is distributor reference pulse. It is the pulse stream that is sent to the ECM from the distributor. The ECM uses it to calculate the engine RPM, and to time the spark and injection events.

Re: First data log!

I guess I figured it wouldn't be a big deal as DataMaster is free and easy to obtain. I'm pretty sure I don't have VATS. There is no pin on the ECM for it and no wiring in the harness. I thought it was odd that is flickered every once in a while.

Re: First data log!

Is Data Master completely free? I thought that there was a trial version that lasted so long then went away. But the non-trial version is a purchase.

Re: First data log!

DataMaster itself is free to download but you can only record data 20 times before you have to purchase a license. You can use all it's other features however many times, I believe.

Re: First data log!

Tunerpro and apu1 is worth the investment. best $200 I spent, fun and easy once you figure out how to log and burn.

Re: First data log!

Cool I missed that. I assumed you had just the Datamaster. You are good to go, send a TP data log instead.
