truck programming

i have a 1989 v1500 blazer with a 350 tbi. so far i have done the ultimate tbi mods, i have a 1 inch spacer, power bowl, long tube headers, 3.08 gears for highway(not as slow as some would think) and holley projection intake for the first gen intake bolt pattern( i did not know when i bought it used so i had to slot the 4 holes for it to fit...). I am ready to start prom burning but i have a few questions first. I bought a 400 sbc with a small 269 advertised degrees cam and .445 on both intake and exhaust and will be building that engine.I will start playing with the proms on the 350 to get the hang of it and then move on. i will swap the intake on my block to the 400 and this is where the questions start. I would like to use a 454 tbi on it and would like to know if it is easier to start with the big block ecm or the one in my 350. What year ecm is more desirable for the eeprom use in my application and could a stock 454 ecm work as is on the 400.

thanks

Re: truck programming

You don't list any ecm service numbers, the 127747 was used on 4.3l, 5.0 , 5.7, 7.4L.
For a custome engine build it will not be plug and play. You could always go with the dynamic Eli ebl. For the 400 you would want to start with a 350 tune adjust for the injector size then start tuning in the ve hth .

Re: truck programming

I've flashed and reflashed well over a hundred times with EBL.

trickster555- I'd suggest EBL since you can learn to tune, experiment, adjust, and flash easily and quickly. That helps a lot when you have a combination that is a bit of a ways off from an existing GM BIN to start with.

Can't run a TBI setup with the Port Mod installed. It isn't easy to remove it either.

Re: truck programming

As stated it isn't easy to remove the Port Mod. Install of it is easy.

For a truck you will like the TPI setup. Lots of mid-range torque. Upgrade the injectors, swap out the two injector connectors for 4 in parallel on each driver, check to see if the IAC and TPS connectors need to be changed.

If the fuel pump hasn't been upgraded yet, that too will need to be done.
