newbie here, need a little guidance

hey guys i am a new one here. and the whole idea of prom burning kinda scares me but i am readin up and tryin to learn. i have an 86 LB9 that i am puting a cam in this winter. i have 2 questions.

my first question is how sensitive are stock MAF ECMs. my dad got a cam alot bigger than i had told him to get and i am afraid it is gonna be a little mean for the stock chip. it has 214-224 degrees duration @ .050 lift and has 444-467 gross lift. this is all on either a 110 or 112 LSA, which doesnt help smooth things out much either. this is about 10 more degrees duration than i had planned on, but i would like to try to run it if i can. i think the extra duration will help my stock heads and intake make a little more power. i also have headers and exhaust, and will be portin the intake and runnin an adjustable fuel pressure regulator. am i gonna be able to run my stock chip for a while, or will this cam have too much overlap and make my ECM throw a fit?

the second is how hard is it to modify a prom to accept a bigger cam? i am just a newbie here and have a friend that has all the stuff accept the software, so we aer gonna prolly tackle it together. will i need to be a master engine tuner to burn a chip optimal for my cam? or can i just use common sense, and burn a chip to suit my needs? thanks guys i really appreciate your time, cus when it comes to proms i dont know my butt from a hole in the ground.

that sounds like the standard cam lingenfelter recamends for a stock 305, i've been looking at that one myself. i called, they claim it kicks butt in a stock 305 with the stock chip, and they say it works well with mods too. i'm still new to the tpi thing my self, just browsing and trying to learn about burning eproms too LOL. hope that helped.
